Blue Coats - Black Flags (2021)

This is an asymmetrical board game for 2-4 players set in the age of sail. The initial release comes with 4 playable factions: British, Spanish, Merchants (West Indies Trading Company), and Pirates. The goal is to be the first player to secure 10VP. Pirates can score VP by sacking ports, boarding ships, producing and selling rum, establishing pirate havens, etc. The British can earn VP by escorting colony or merchant ships through safe passage, setting up colonies, declaring war on Spain, etc. The merchant player works to build trading posts and plantations to export goods back to Europe. The Spanish are trying hard to keep out the British and others, keep their hold on the goods and export their gold back to Spain.

The game utilizes customizable card decks for unique strategy and player preference gaming; tokens for ship movement, plantation and colony locations; and RPG for in-game outcomes.
